North Greenville Volleyball Tops Emory & Henry, 3-0, Tuesday Evening

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The North Greenville University Volleyball Team (10-7) defeated Emory & Henry College (1-14) by a 3-0 score on Tuesday evening in non-conference play. The Crusaders won the match by scores of 27-25, 25-19 and 25-17.

How It Happened
- The two teams traded points through the early stages of the opening set, with the Crusaders holding the narrow one-point lead at 10-9. A three-point E&H rally drew the score level at 19-19 in the middle of the set, forcing a timeout from NGU. North Greenville would draw within a point of taking the opening frame, but the Wasps battled back to even things up at 24-24. Despite a valiant effort from E&H, the Crusaders took three of the final four points to win the first set by a 27-25 scoreline.
- The Wasps took an early lead in the second set, establishing an 11-6 advantage. NGU would utilize a six-point run to take the lead at 12-11. The squads continued to trade punches and stood level at 17-17. The Crusaders would settle in and win eight out of ten points to take the second stanza 25-19.
- NGU took the advantage in the third stanza, as they established a five-point lead that they would not relinquish. The Crusaders stayed in control throughout to win the set and the match by a margin of 25-17. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore outside hitter Camden Jones (Bristol, Va.) led E&H with 10 kills and five digs. Freshman setter/right-side hitter Payton Rolfsen (Fort Wayne, Ind.) had six kills, six assists, three digs and two blocks while classmate outside hitter Julissa Hopgood (Lutz, Fla.) contributed nine digs, three service aces and an assist.
- Sophomore setter Paige Halcrow (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) recorded a team-high 10 assists and seven digs.
- Junior libero Libby Bickelhaupt (Fort Myers, Fla.) had a team-high 13 digs and added two assists.

North Greenville Individual Leaders
- Abigail Durham led the Crusader attack with 15 kills. Ashlyn Conner had a match-high 36 assists, four digs and two blocks. 
- Whitley Kahler had 16 digs while Klayton Mathis contributed 15 digs.

- Emory & Henry returns home Friday to host the Cobras of Coker University as part of Homecoming Weekend. First serve for the South Atlantic Conference matchup is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
