No. 24 Wingate Takes SAC Match From Emory & Henry, 3-0, Saturday Morning

EMORY, Va. – The No. 24 nationally ranked Wingate University Volleyball Team (19-1, 10-0 SAC) defeated Emory & Henry College (1-16, 1-8 SAC) by a 3-0 scoreline Saturday morning in South Atlantic Conference play. The Bulldogs won the match by scores of 25-13, 25-13 and 25-22.

How It Happened
- The visiting Bulldogs took an early advantage in the first set as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening moments. Wingate controlled the set throughout and took the opener by a 25-13 score.
- Wingate once again took control of the set and established a 18-10 advantage leading to an E&H timeout. The Bulldogs took seven of the final 10 points in the set and closed out the frame with another 25-13 scoreline.
- The Wasps responded in the third stanza as they controlled play throughout the early stages. E&H maintained a slight edge in the middle of the set and pushed their lead to 21-19 and forced a Wingate timeout. The Bulldogs answered back coming out of the timeout as they took the lead for the first time in the set at 22-21 to force E&H to call a timeout of their own. Wingate converted three of the final four scoring opportunities to take the set and match 25-22.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior outside hitter Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) recorded five kills, two blocks and a dig while senior right-side hitter Carley Williams (Bristol, Tenn.) added five kills and a block.
- Freshman setter/right-side hitter Payton Rolfsen (Fort Wayne, Ind.) had four kills, six digs and a block.
- Sophomore setter Paige Halcrow (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) recorded a team-high 11 assists and seven digs and senior setter Marissa Snapp (Chuckey, Tenn.) added 10 assists, three digs and a service ace.
- Junior libero Libby Bickelhaupt (Fort Myers, Fla.) had a team-high 10 digs, two assists and a service ace.

Wingate Individual Leaders
- Gabby Saye had nine kills, three blocks and a dig while Emily Johnson contributed eight kills, three blocks and a dig.
- Shannon Kasperak had a match-high 33 assists to go along with her 11 digs, two service aces and one block. Maggie Mullen led the Bulldogs with 18 digs and added seven assists.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry travels to Wise, Virginia on Tuesday for a showdown with nearby rival the University of Virginia's College at Wise. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
