Mars Hill Volleyball Sweeps Emory & Henry, 3-0, Saturday Afternoon

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill University Volleyball Team (17-7, 12-4 SAC) defeated Emory & Henry College (4-22, 3-13 SAC) by a 3-0 margin on Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference play. The Lions took the match by scores of 25-13, 25-17, and 25-11.

How It Happened
- The Lions jumped out to the early lead as they held a 13-5 advantage. Mars Hill increased their lead through the middle stages of the set and the score sat at 20-9. The Lions cruised to the opening set win by a 25-13 scoreline.
- The second set was a hard-fought battle with the two teams trading points early. The score stood at 15-15 midway through the frame. The Lions would settle in to take the lead at 20-17 and win the set 25-17.
- Mars Hill once again jumped out to the early lead in the third set as they utilized multiple scoring runs to establish a lead of 15-6. The Lions would push the margin to 20-9 en route to taking the set and the match 25-11. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore outside hitter Camden Jones (Bristol, Va.) led the Wasps with seven kills and 11 digs. Jones was supported by junior right-side hitter Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) who had seven kills, two blocks and a dig.
- Senior setter Marissa Snapp posted a double-double with a team-high 10 assists and 11 digs. Freshman setter/right-side hitter Payton Rolfsen (Fort Wayne, Ind.) had nine assists, three digs and two service aces.
- Junior libero Libby Bickelhaupt (Fort Myers, Fla.) had 11 digs, two assists and three service aces. 

Mars Hill Individual Leaders
- Sarah Goddard had 11 kills, four digs and two blocks while teammate Janna Cuk posted 11 kills, five digs and two service aces.
- Jordan Schmucker had a match-high 40 assists and Laela Jimenez posted a match-high 23 digs.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry returns home on Tuesday to face the Lady Eagles of Carson-Newman University. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
