Emory & Henry Volleyball Falls To Tusculum, 3-0, Tuesday Evening

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tusculum University Volleyball Team (10-5, 6-2 SAC) completed the season sweep of Emory & Henry College (4-10, 1-6 SAC) with a 3-0 South Atlantic Conference victory Tuesday night. The Pioneers earned the win by scores of 26-24, 25-20 and 25-16.

How It Happened

- The Wasps were first to 15 in the opening set as they held on to a narrow two-point advantage. The two squads continued to trade blows and E&H reached set point at 24-23. Tusculum would respond with three consecutive points to take the first frame 26-24. 

- Emory & Henry ran out to another lead at 16-12, but the Pioneers rattled off six straight to jump ahead. Tusculum finished the set on a 13-4 run as they won the second stanza 25-20.

- The Pioneers led wire-to-wire in the third set as they recorded 17 kills compared to just five errors on their way to a match-clinching 25-16 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior outside hitter Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) registered nine kills, three digs and three blocks while junior outside hitter Sophia Kaiser (Stafford, Va.) had seven kills, five digs and an assist. Freshman right-side hitter Marli Watkins (Knoxville, Tenn.) posted five kills and a dig.

- Sophomore setter Payton Rolfsen (Fort Wayne, Ind.) recorded a double-double with a team-high 27 assists, 11 digs, three service aces, two kills and a block. Senior libero Libby Bickelhaupt (Fort Myers, Fla.) had a team-high 12 digs, a pair of assists and a service ace.

Tusculum Individual Leaders
- Emiah Burrowes led the Pioneers with 17 kills, six digs, two blocks, an assist and a service ace. Aly Freeland posted 12 digs, six kills, two service aces, a block and an assist.

- Madison Adkins had a match-high 30 assists, six blocks, four digs and a pair of kills.

- Emory & Henry returns home to the King Center on Friday, October 6 to face the Lions of Mars Hill University in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m..
