How It Happened
- The Lady Splitters won the opening three points of the first set, but the Wasps responded to draw even at 5-5. E&H would not look back throughout the remainder of the set as they increased their lead to as many as seven and took the first frame by a 25-18 margin.
- The second stanza was a tight affair that saw 15 ties and seven lead changes. First to 25 points would not be enough as the two squads could not be separated. The Wasps reached set point at 25-24, but the Lady Splitters rattled off three straight to even the match by a 27-25 score.
- E&H ran out to an early 17-9 advantage, but once again LMU would not go away and won seven of the following eight points to draw within a pair at 18-16. The teams continued to trade points and a kill from senior middle Hannah Watson (Kingsport, Tenn.) gave the Wasps another set point. The home team utilized an error from the visitors to take the third frame 25-22.
- The fourth set was tight through the opening 20 points, as the Wasps held a narrow 11-9 advantage. A 9-3 E&H run would open up breathing room for the home squad, which they never relinquished. A service ace from sophomore setter Rolfsen sealed the win for the Wasps by a 25-17 scoreline.
