Emory & Henry Volleyball Opens The 2024 Regular Season At Eckerd College Tournament

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Emory & Henry University Volleyball Team (0-2) opened its 2024 season at the Eckerd College Tournament Friday afternoon in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Wasps fell to No. 4 nationally-ranked Wayne State (Neb.) College (2-0) and host institution Eckerd College (1-0) in straight sets.

The Wayne State Match
- Fifth-year outside hitter Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) led the E&H attack with six kills, three digs and a block while sophomore front row Grace Duey (Tega Cay, S.C.) added four kills, four digs and a block.
- Junior middle Gracyn Miller (Lilburn, Ga.) had five blocks, one kill, one assist and a service ace. Junior setter Logan Newberry (Glade Spring, Va.) recorded a team-high 11 assists and four digs with fifth-year libero Libby Bickelhaupt (Fort Myers, Fla.) posting a team-high ten digs.

The Eckerd Match
- Miller paced the Wasps in their second match of the day with six kills, three blocks, two digs and an assist. Hogan contributed five kills and a dig to go along with Duey's four kills, three digs and a service ace.
- Bickelhaupt had a team-high 12 digs, two assists, one kill and a service ace. Senior outside hitter Sophia Kaiser (Stafford, Va.) chipped in with three blocks, three digs and a pair of kills.

- Emory & Henry wraps up the Eckerd College Tournament on Saturday with two more matches. The Wasps will take on Adelphi University at 9:30 a.m., before facing Saint Leo University at 2:30 p.m..
