Lincoln Memorial Volleyball Defeats Emory & Henry, 3-0, In SAC Play Tuesday

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Volleyball Team (2-9, 0-4 SAC) dropped its South Atlantic Conference match against Lincoln Memorial University (8-3, 2-2 SAC) Tuesday evening. The Lady Railsplitters earned the victory by scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 25-20.

How It Happened
- The Wasps jumped ahead early in the opening set as they took four of the first five points available. The visitors would steady themselves and string together points, establishing a 14-10 advantage midway through the frame. E&H rallied with six of the following eight to draw things level at 16-16, but LMU finished the set on top with a 9-2 run to close things out 25-18.
- The teams went back and forth to begin the second set and the score was all square at 9-9 early on. A 7-2 run gave the Lady Railsplitters the 16-11 margin through the middle stages and they would not relinquish their advantage as they took the second stanza by a 25-22 scoreline.
- The third frame was another close affair in the early stages as the tally was level at 8-8 once more. The latter stages of the set went in rallies as LMU mounted an 8-3 run, but the Wasps immediately responded with five of the next seven points to draw back within a pair at 18-16. The Lady Railsplitters would not be denied on the evening as they were able to close things out in the third and decisive set by a 25-20 final score. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Fifth-year outside hitter Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) had her second consecutive match in double-digit kills as she finished with 10 kills, five digs, two blocks and a service ace. Freshman middle Abigail Leo (Charlotte, N.C.) added a career-high four blocks, three kills and a dig while sophomore front row Haley Harnichar (Sevierville, Tenn.) contributed three kills and three blocks.
- Junior setter Logan Newberry (Glade Spring, Va.) had a team-high 20 assists and five digs. Fifth-year libero Libby Bickelhaupt (Fort Myers, Fla.) posted a joint match-high 14 digs and a service ace. 

Lincoln Memorial Individual Leaders
- Kristen Moehring led the LMU attack with a match-high 14 kills, five digs, two service aces, one assist and a block. Agata Bogdanska recorded nine kills, three blocks, two digs and an assist. Abigail Kesler had 11 kills and three digs in the win.
- Lauren Pickett registered a match-high 32 assists, nine digs, one kill and a service ace while Lauren Jacob added a joint match-high 14 digs and an assist.

- The Wasps hit the road this weekend as they travel to the Palmetto State on Friday, September 27 to take on Newberry College. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. from Eleazer Arena.
