
EMORY, Va. – The Tusculum University (6-9, 4-3 SAC) defeated Emory & Henry University (2-12, 0-7 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference play Tuesday evening. The visiting Pioneers earned the victory by set scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-20.

How It Happened
- Tusculum took control early as they ran out to a 12-5 advantage. The Wasps battled back with seven of the next eight points to draw back within a pair at 14-12. The teams went back and forth through the middle stages and the Pioneers held the 19-17 lead. TU turned it on in the decisive points to take the win 25-20.
- The second frame was another tight affair that saw the teams all square at 8-8. A quick spurt from the Pioneers saw them establish a 13-9 advantage. Four of the following six points went the way of the Wasps, but TU answered immediately with four straight to push the margin back out to 19-13. The Pioneers did not look back, taking the second stanza 25-17.
- The third set went back-and-forth through the early and middle stages as the frame saw nine ties and the score was all square at 14-14. The game of runs continued with six straight for the visitors followed by four straight for the Wasps. TU took five of the final seven points to clinch the set and the match 25-20.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Fifth-year outside hitter Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) posted eight kills, two digs and a service ace while sophomore front row Grace Duey (Tega Cay, S.C.) finished with seven kills and three digs. Freshman right side Mollee Cutshall (Blountville, Tenn.) had a career-high six kills, two digs and an assist.
- Fifth-year libero Libby Bickelhaupt (Fort Myers, Fla.) recorded a match-high 22 digs, six assists and a pair of service aces. Junior setter Logan Newberry (Glade Spring, Va.) registered a team-high 14 assists, four digs and a kill while freshman setter Zoie Pace (Collinsville, Va.) had 11 digs, nine assists and a pair of service aces.
Tusculum Individual Leaders
- Addison McLarty paced the Pioneers with 12 kills two digs and a block. Martina Foster added 10 kills, two service aces, two blocks, and an assist while Jordyn Roderick had 12 kills and a dig.
- Madison Adkins recorded a match-high 37 assists, eight digs, three kills and a pair of blocks. Amiranee Au contributed 21 digs, four assists and a service ace.
