How It Happened
- LMU took an early lead at 8-5, but the Wasps bounced back with three of the following four points to draw within one. The Lady Railsplitters pushed their advantage back out to four at 13-9 until a string of five straight won by E&H saw them jump ahead. The two teams then exchanged blows through the middle stages and the score stood deadlocked at 21-21. The home team took the final four points of the frame to take the 1-0 lead in the match.
- Lincoln Memorial began the second set by winning seven of the opening eight points, but the Wasps slowly began to work themselves back into contention and trailed by just a pair at the midpoint, 15-13. E&H continued to press the issue and tied the set at 18-18 to force a Lady Railsplitters timeout. LMU responded out of the break with four straight to give them some breathing room. The Wasps won three of the next four points to trim the deficit to just two, but LMU would not be denied and took the final two points for the set win, 25-21.
- The visitors from Emory were the aggressors to begin the third stanza as they ran out to a 6-1 advantage. A set of runs ensued as LMU posted seven of the next 10 points to take the lead 9-8. The Wasps answered back with eight of the following 11 chances to give them the 16-12 margin and force another LMU timeout. The two teams entered the deciding stages of the frame with the Wasps holding a 20-18 lead. The Lady Railsplitters were just too much on the evening as they finished the set by winning seven of the final eight points for their third consecutive 25-21 win.
