Emory & Henry Women’s Wrestling Makes History With Its First-Ever Match Against Limestone Wednesday

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Wrestling Team (0-1) made history as the newest intercollegiate sport at the College, hosting Limestone University (1-0) Wednesday evening at the John Rutledge King Center. The Saints won the match by a 36-5 score, but the Wasps earned four victories in their first-ever match.

How It Happened
- The match began with Limestone leading 25-5 due to forfeits from unfilled weight classes.
- The Saints picked up wins at the 123- and 130- pound weight classes by decision and won at 136 by pinfall for the final 36-5 score.
- In the exhibition matches, freshman Emma Lozada (Princeton, Texas) earned the Wasps' first-ever win at the 191-pound weight class, defeating her opponent by pinfall at the two-minute mark of the first period.
- At 130 pounds, freshman MaryAnne Walker (Manchester, Tenn.) grabbed E&H's quickest victory of the night earning a pinfall in 18 seconds.
- Freshman Dafne Aguilar Martinez (Pharr, Texas) also earned an exhibition win at the 123-pound weight class by medial withdrawal.
