Emory & Henry Women’s Wrestling Defeats St. Andrews, 15-10, To Open The Season Thursday

LAURINBURG, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Wrestling Team (1-0) got the 2022-23 season started on Thursday evening with a 15-10 win at St. Andrews University (0-1).

The Match
- The Wasps clinched the team victory before the match started, earning three victories by forfeit. Sophomore Dafne Aguilar Martinez (Pharr, Texas) was E&H's 130-pound entry, while senior Andreia Langley (Chilhowie, Va.) and freshman Brittney Reed (Sandston, Va.) took five points each at 170 pounds and 191 pounds, respectively.
- St. Andrews got five points by forfeit to make it a 15-5 with Gabrielle Holloway winning by forfeit at 155 pounds.
- In the only official bout of the match, SAU's Tonya Flournory defeated E&H freshman Alanna Jennings (Ashland, Va.) by fall at the 1:43 mark of the first period.

Extra Bouts
- Holloway earned a win by fall midway through the second period (4:05) over Langley at 170 pounds.
- Shanakay Chambers picked up a win by fall at 2:36, defeating Reed in a 191-pound bout.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will visit Emmanuel (Ga.) College next Wednesday for a dual. The match will be part of a doubleheader with the Wasps' and Lions' men's teams.
