Emory & Henry Women’s Wrestling Earns Two Wins At Trojan Duals Sunday

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Wrestling Team (4-7) kept its season rolling with two dual-match victories out of four contests at the Trojan Duals on Sunday. The duals were hosted by University of Mount Olive.

Saturday's Basics

The Emmanuel (Ga.) Match
- Emmanuel began the match with a 15-10 lead due to five unfilled weight classes.
- Freshman Ava Thomas (Stafford, Va.) provided a win for the Wasps at 130 pounds, taking her bout by a 9-3 decision.

The Mount Olive Match
- E&H gave up a 20-0 lead to get things started because of four unfilled classes.
- The Wasps scored their 15 points by fall at the top three weight classes with senior Andreia Langley (Chilowie, Va.) winning in 2:30 at 155, freshman Ella Tallent (Dandridge, Tenn.) earning a pin at 170 in 1:48 and freshman Brittney Reed (Sandston, Va.) taking the victory at 191 in 1:26.
- In an extra match, freshman Alanna Jennings (Ashland, Va.) won by pin in 2:23.

The Ferrum Match
- The Wasps and Panthers both left the 101-, 109- and 116-pound weight classes empty. Emory & Henry earned wins by forfeit at 123, 136, 170 and 191 while Ferrum grabbed points at 143 for a 20-5 starting score.
- Langley won her 155-pound bout with a pin in 1:36.

The Greensboro Match
- There were no wrestlers between the Wasps and Pride that matched up with one another. The match went down to E&H's five competitors compared to Greensboro's one for a 25-5 decision.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will host the second annual Wasps Open on Sunday, December 18 at Bob Johnson Court at the John Rutledge King Center. The first bouts are scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
