Emory & Henry Women’s Wrestling Takes Third At Trojan Duals Sunday

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Wrestling Team (7-4) earned a pair of dual-meet victories to finish in third place at University of Mount Olive's Trojan Duals on Sunday. The Wasps picked up victories over Frostburg State University and Greensboro College on the day.

The Basics

The Frostburg State Match
- Emory & Henry opened the match with a 25-5 lead due to unfilled weight classes.
- Freshman Natalia Sanchez (Powhatan, Va.) picked up a victory by fall in 29 seconds at 116 pounds.
- At 123 pounds, freshman Madison Wilson (Henrico, Va.) dropped a 12-8 decision.

The Mount Olive Match
- The host Trojans started the match with a 15-0 advantage because of three unfilled weight classes.
- Sanchez got her second win of the day, 10-0 by technical superiority in 53 seconds.
- Junior Skie Roulo (Chesterfield, Va.) won by fall in 1:15 at 143 while sophomore Katie Gakin (Aberdeen, Wash.) pinned her opponent at 170 in 51 seconds.
- UMO grabbed three victories by fall and one by technical superiority to take the match.

The King Match
- The Tornado got things started with a 15-0 lead.
- King then grabbed four wins by fall and took full control of the match.
- Freshman Molly Keller (Fairlawn, Va.) and Gakin scored points in their bouts at 155 and 170, respectively despite losing by technical superiority.

The Greensboro Match
- E&H picked up the team win in what was just a formality as no bouts were wrestled.
- The Wasps earned seven forfeit victories and the Pride had one win by forfeit with no wrestlers matching up.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will close out the fall portion of its season on Friday when it hosts the Wasps Open in the John Rutledge King Center. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
