Emory & Henry Women’s Wrestling Splits Its Final Two Duals Of The Year Friday Evening

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Wrestling Team closed out the dual match portion of its season on Friday evening with a pair of duals against Newberry College and Allen (S.C.) University on the Allen campus.

The Wasps defeated the Wolves, 25-15, to start the day and fell by a 25-19 margin to the host Yellow Jackets in a tightly-contested match to close the evening's action.

The Newberry Match
- E&H started the match with a 15-10 lead due to unfilled weight classes.
- Freshman Alex Costello (Johnson City, Tenn.) pinned her opponent in 48 seconds at 138 pounds.
- Senior Emma Lozada (Princeton, Texas) sealed the victory for the Wasps with a pin in 3:38.

The Allen Match
- The Yellow Jackets opened the match with a 15-0 lead.
- Sophomore Molly Keller (Fairlawn, Va.) picked up a win via technical superiority (10-0; 1:54) at 145 pounds.
- Senior Skie Rice (North Chesterfield, Va.) won her bout by fall in 1:02 at 160 pounds.
- At 180 pounds, freshman Rihana Carson (Roanoke, Va.) made quick work of her opponent, winning by fall in 16 seconds.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will next compete at the NCWWC Region III Championships on Saturday, February 22. The event will be hosted by Emmanuel (Ga.) University at the Shaw Athletic Center for the third time in four years.
