Emory & Henry Women’s Cross Country Finishes Ninth At 2013 ODAC Championshps

FARMVILLE, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Cross Country Team picked up a ninth-place finish at the 2013 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships Saturday morning at Manor Golf Course. Hampden-Sydney College served as the host school for this year's conference meet.

E&H, which earned its first team score at the ODAC Championship meet since 2008 and also finished better than last for the first time since 1991, was paced by sophomore Leslie Sierra (Front Royal, Va.), who covered the 6K course in 27:08. Sophomore Elizabeth Wilson (Roanoke, Va.) was second on the squad, clocking a time of 28:02.

Freshman Natalie Foley (Salem, Va.) was third (29:46) while sophomore Sara Nichols (Rocky Mount, Va.) and sophomore Gabbie Rhodes (Richmond, Va.) ran times of 29:53 and 30:15, respectively.  

Bridgewater College won the overall conference championship, placing five runners in the top nine. The Eagles finished 1-2-3 in the meet led by Kaylee Kubisiak, whose time of 23:36 earned her Runner of the Year honors.

Emory & Henry will next compete in the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Championship. The meet will take place on Saturday, November 16, hosted by Christopher Newport University.
