Emory & Henry Women’s Cross Country Earns Seventh-Place Finish At 2014 ODAC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Cross Country Team endured cold, wet weather and a sloppy course to finish seventh out of 10 schools at the 2014 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships Saturday. The race took place at The Meadows on the campus of Guilford College.

The seventh-place finish marks the best result for the Wasps since the league expanded to eight teams for the 2003 season.

"Our women did a fantastic job in incredibly poor conditions," commented Head Coach Tom Antenucci. "Meg (Greene) quickly asserted herself as one of the top runners in the ODAC for the next four years."

Emory & Henry was led over the 6K distance by freshman Meg Greene (Charlotte, N.C.). The Myers Park High School product clocked a time of 25:13 to finish 10th and earn All-ODAC Second Team honors. Greene is the first E&H harrier in 22 years to be named to the all-conference team.

Second for the Wasps was freshman Olivia Wyatt (Independence, Va.), who turned in a time of 27:30 to finish 43rd. Junior Elizabeth Wilson (Roanoke, Va.) was third on the squad, covering the course in 28:56 to finish 64th. Freshman Lindsey Pratt (Marion, Va.) and junior Gabbie Rhodes (Richmond, Va.) rounded out the top five for E&H coming in 67th (29:16) and 68th (29:28), respectively.

Also in the field for Emory & Henry was freshman Kaitlynn Stowers (Round Rock, Texas) (73rd – 29:59) and sophomore Katherine Ginn (Allendale, Mich.) (37:07 – 93rd).

"With no seniors, we should be primed for a top-five finish next year," Antenucci added. "I am very proud of our women today."

Bridgewater College's Kaylee Kubisiak was crowned the individual ODAC Champion and ODAC Runner of the Year, as she went 23:35. The Eagles also earned the team championship, placing three runners in the top six.

Emory & Henry will next compete at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Championship on the campus of Berry College in Mount Berry, Georgia, on Saturday, November 15.
