MOUNT BERRY Ga. – The Emory & Henry College Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams concluded their season at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast regional championships on Saturday morning. The meet was hosted on the campus of Berry College.

Despite battling cold temperatures, the Wasps men picked up a 17th-place finish out of the 28 teams in competition. The Emory & Henry men were paced by sophomore Alex Cooper's (Christiansburg, Va.) 76th-place finish in 27:42.

"I was pleased with my performance today. I went out in a more aggressive fashion, but it set me in a good position for the rest of the race," Cooper said.

Second for Emory & Henry was sophomore Kevin Watts (Stafford, Va.) covering the course in 27:59, with freshman Michael Cawood (Louisville, Ky.) following closely behind in 28:00. Rounding out the top five for the Wasps was junior Nathan Fishell (Richmond, Va.) (28:18) and freshman Michael LoGrande (Alexandria, Va.) (28:49).

Winning the race in a time of 25:32 was Eastern Mennonite University's Ryan Gehman. Emory University claimed the team title, while placing four runners inside the top 13.

On the women's side, the Wasps were led to a 26th-place finish by freshman Meg Greene (Charlotte, N.C.). The All-ODAC performer turned in a school-record time of 24:28 to finish 68th.

"It was a fast course, and I'm happy with my personal record. I'm already looking forward to next year," Green said.

Following Greene, was freshman Lindsey Pratt (Marion, Va.) in 26:14. Rounding out the top five for the Wasps were junior Elizabeth Wilson (Roanoke, Va.) (26:44), freshman Olivia Wyatt (Independence, Va.) (27:07), and junior Gabbie Rhodes (Richmond, Va.) (28:36).

University of Mary Washington's Natalie Young won the women's individual title with a time of 21:42. Emory University claimed the team title, while scoring five inside the top 20.

Head Coach Tom Antenucci said, "Both the men and women's teams made dramatic improvements from last year, and with no seniors we are poised to make another big jump next season. Emory & Henry is set to make a big impact on the ODAC and region for years to come."
