Emory & Henry Women’s Cross Country Selected Eighth In ODAC Preseason Poll

FOREST, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Cross Country Team is picked to finish eighth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference by the league's head coaches, ODAC officials announced Wednesday.

Head Coach Ian Layne, now in his second year, looks to continue to guide the Wasps up the ladder in the ODAC with the addition of a talented rookie class.

We have a lot of young exciting talent of the women's side this year,” said Layne. “I cannot wait to see how they perform on the course this year. We were picked tenth in the ODAC poll last year and finished eighth. I believe this year’s women's team will continue to make moves in the ODAC standings."

Washington and Lee University is picked to win the ODAC Championship for a third year in a row with 10 of 12 first-place votes. Roanoke College is second while Eastern Mennonite University is third. Bridgewater College and Lynchburg College are tied for fourth, each picking up one first-place vote.

Emory & Henry will open the season on Saturday, September 2 in the Western Carolina Invitational, hosted by Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. The ODAC Championship will be hosted by Virginia Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Saturday, October 28.
