Emory & Henry Women’s Cross Country Finishes 10th At Queen City Invite Friday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Cross Country teams competed at the Queen City Invite hosted by Queens (N.C.) University of Charlotte on Friday. The men's team finished ninth out of 17 teams, while the women's team took 10th out of the field of 16.

The Men – 8K (4.97 miles)
- Sophomore Matthew Klapak (Zions Crossroads, Va.) ran a 28:22, good enough for a 38th place finish to lead the Wasps, while freshman Miles Baldwin (Willis, Va.) posted a 28:57 and finished in 46th place.
- Freshman Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) and sophomore Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) went 29:16 and 29:24, respectively while freshman Logan Choplin (Manassas, Va.) ran a time of 29:50.
- Lenoir-Rhyne's Jacob Parkinson was the individual winner with a time of 25:26.
- Reinhardt University took home the team victory, placing three runners in the top eight.

The Women – 5K (3.14 miles)
- Freshman Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) posted a 20:50 as she earned a 19th place finish, while freshman Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) finished in 28th place with a time of 21:26.
- Freshman Sydney Bonney (Bristol, Va.) ran a 24:00 to finish in 57th place. Sophomores Chloe Jones (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Michelle Diaz (Woodbridge, Va.) rounded out the team with times of 27:50 and 28:19, respectively.
- Savannah State's Kayla Chance won the individual title with a time of 19:08.
- Benedict College took home the team victory with three runners finishing in the top nine places.

- Emory & Henry will return to McAlpine Creek Park on Friday, October 7 for the Royals Cross Country Challenge, also hosted by Queens (N.C.).
