Emory & Henry Women’s Cross Country Finishes Third At Wildcat Classic Friday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Cross Country teams competed at the Wildcat XC Classic hosted by Johnson & Wales (N.C.) University on Friday. The women's team finished third out of 10 teams, while the men were fourth out of the field of 11.

The Men – 8K (4.97 miles)
- Sophomore Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) led E&H with a time of 27:05 and a 23rd-place finish.
- Freshman Miles Baldwin (Willis, Va.) ran a 27:28.6, good enough for 27th and sophomore Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) finished in 27:43.0 for 29th place. 
- Freshmen Tommy Henzey, IV (Salem, Va.) and Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) posted times of 28:41.8 and 28:51.2 for 40th and 41st respectively. Freshman Willie Burns, Jr. (Woodbridge, Va.) finished with a 29:07.5 and a 43rd-place finish.
- Fellow South Atlantic Conference member Lenoir-Rhyne's Jacob Parkinson was the individual winner with a time of 24:53.0.
- Appalachian State University took home the team title with four runners amongst the top nine finishers.

The Women – 5K (3.14 miles)
- Freshman Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) led the Wasps in 19th with a 20:59.6 posted time while fellow classmate Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) finished in 23rd with a time of 21:12.6.
-Junior Annalyse McHone (Shawsville, Va.) and freshman Sydney Bonney (Bristol, Va.) ran times of 21:55.3 and 23:00.6 respectively, placing McHone in 27th and Bonney in 34th.
- Junior Madeline Bishop (Collinsville, Va.) finished in 37th with a time of 23:37.5.
- Deanna Betzer of Lees-McRae College was the victorious individual runner with a time of 18:34.5.
- Appalachian State University won the team event as they placed two runners in the top nine.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will close out the season at the South Atlantic Conference Championships on Saturday, November 5. The event, hosted by Catawba College, will take place at Community Park in Salisbury, North Carolina.
