Emory & Henry Women’s Cross Country Places Seventh At SAC Championships Saturday

NEWTON, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Cross Country Team brought the 2023 season to a close by finishing seventh at the South Atlantic Conference Championship on Saturday morning. The meet took place at Southside Park in Newton, North Carolina, hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne University.

The Results – 6K (3.7 miles)
- Sophomore Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) finished 29th on the day at 22:12, breaking the school record by 1:08. Freshman Jessi Looney (Vansant, Va.) was 37th, also eclipsing the program's previous top mark.
- Freshman Kennedy Harris (Mineral, Va.) cracked the top 50 with a time of 23:22 at 49th place as freshman Trinity Neff's (Grottoes, Va.) 23:47 was good for 55th.
- Sophomore Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) was the final scorer for the Wasps, running a 24:10 to take 63rd.
- Freshman Hannah Rosen (Falls Church, Va.), junior Kinna Magette (Courtland, Va.) and freshman Lauren Micheal (Salem, Va.) also competed for the Wasps.

The Winners
- Wingate University claimed the team title with all five of its scoring runners finishing in the top nine. Catawba College finished at the runner-up.
- Madison Clay of Catawba turned in a time of 20:25 to claim the overall title while teammate Mikalya Jones was second in 20:28.
