Emory & Henry Women’s Cross Country Places Eighth At SAC Championships Saturday

NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Cross Country Team entered the postseason on Saturday, finishing eighth at the 2024 South Atlantic Conference Championships. The meet took place at The Farm Cross Country Course in Newberry, South Carolina, and was hosted by Newberry College.

The Results – 6K (3.7 miles)
- Junior Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) paced the Wasps, finishing 19th in 22:47 while junior Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) placed 53rd in 24:41 and sophomore Kennedy Harris (Mineral, Va.) was 54th with a time of 24:43.
- Sophomore McKenzie Tate (Wytheville, Va.) ran a 25:47 to finish 62nd with sophomore Maddy Fiscus (Crockett, Va.) placing 67th at 26:11 to round out the scoring for E&H.
- Freshman Tess Somervell (Chilhowie, Va.) was 70th, sophomore Maya Turner (Midland, Va.) took 78th, sophomore Hannah Rosen (Falls Church, Va.) finished 82nd and sophomore Madison Carlisle (Stafford, Va.) was 88th.

The Winners
- Madison Clay of Catawba College ran a 21:26 to claim the individual championship, beating Wingate University's Grace Burrell by nine seconds.
- Wingate made it four SAC Championships in a row, placing its five scoring runners in the top 11 including taking places two through four. Catawba was the runner-up with three runners in the top 10.

- Emory & Henry will next compete at the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championship on Saturday, November 9. The meet will take place at Milliken Research Park in Spartanburg, South Carolina, hosted by Converse University.
