Emory & Henry Women’s Cross Country Competes At NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championships

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – For the first time since 2018, the Emory & Henry University Men's & Women's Cross Country Teams competed in the NCAA postseason on Saturday, taking the course at the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championships.

Converse University served as the host of this year's region meet at Milliken Research Park. The men's team finished ninth out of 28 competing teams while the women were 16th out of 26 squads.

The Men – 10K (6.21 miles)
- Senior Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) was E&H's top finisher, establishing the program record at the 10K distance at 32:13 to finish 44th.
- Junior Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) claimed 55th with a time of 32:51 while sophomore Davis Norman (Salem, Va.) ran a 33:11 to place 61st.
- Junior Miles Baldwin (Willis, Va.) took 69th, running a 33:22 as sophomore Hillis Roberson, IV (Rosenburg, Texas) was 71st (33:23).
- Junior Tommy Henzey, IV (Salem, Va.) and freshman Donald Mullins, Jr. (Vinton, Va.) placed 148th and 164th, respectively to round out the Wasps' seven.
 - Wingate University won the region title with a perfect score of 15 as they occupied the top six individual places. The Bulldogs' top five runners ran nearly identical times, but it was Ricardo Barbosa (29:16) who crossed the line just ahead of his teammates for medalist honors. Augusta University was second as a team, earning two of the remaining four top 10 spots.

The Women – 6K (3.73 miles)
- Junior Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) led the Wasps with a time of 23:25 to finish 46th while junior Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) was 66th in 24:01.
- Sophomore Kennedy Harris (Mineral, Va.) was 118th, running a 26:27 with sophomore Maddy Fiscus (Crockett, Va.) in 122nd at 26:36. Sophomore McKenzie Tate (Wytheville, Va.) was 124th in 26:42 to round out the Wasps' scorers.
- Sophomore Maya Turner (Midland, Va.) placed 125th and freshman Tess Somervell (Chilhowie, Va.) claimed 150th.
- Wingate claimed the team title with four runners in the top eight while Flagler College was second.
- Flagler's Taylor Stone was the individual region champion with a time of 21:04, besting Wingate's Mia Cabrera by five seconds.
