MENTOR, Ohio – Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College reclaimed its spot at the top of the collegiate dressage world Sunday, winning its seventh Intercollegiate Dressage Association championship. The victory makes it four national titles in the last five years, three of which have come since the program began competing under the Emory & Henry banner. The Wasps return the Beukema Trophy to Southwest Virginia after a year hiatus.
The Wasps also picked up an individual championship on Saturday as freshman Delaney Dunne (Kingsport, Tenn.) brought home the Mary Beth McLain Memorial Trophy at the Introductory Level.
Thursday – USDF/IDA Quiz Challenge
- Junior Eliza Ginn (Alpharetta, Ga.) and senior Odessa Thacker (Yorktown, Va.) took fourth place in the Quiz Challenge in both the First and Lower Training Levels, respectively.
Saturday - Individual Championships
First Level
- Junior Eliza Ginn (Alpharetta, Ga.) placed seventh in First Level competition, scoring a 64.85%.
Upper Training Level
- In the Upper Training Level, sophomore Cassandra Oliver (Charlotte, Vt.) was eighth on a score of 62.73%.
Lower Training Level
- The Lower Training Level competition saw sophomore Bobbie Jo Adsit (Montpelier, Va.) take Reserve Champion honors (68.80%).
Introductory Level
- Freshman Delaney Dunne (Kingsport, Tenn.) was named the National Champion in the Introductory Level, besting the field with a 68.59%.
Sunday – Team Championship
First Level
- Ginn started the day for the Wasps with a first-place finish, scoring a 72.97%.
- Stanford University's Abby Fleischli was second while Melissa Lempicki of Bridgewater College was third.
Upper Training Level
- Oliver took fourth for E&H (67.61%) with Otterbein University's Rachel Cellini winning the level on a 70.46%.
Lower Training Level
- Adsit scored a full 13 points for the Wasps with a win at Lower Training, scoring a 73.04%.
- Centenary (N.J.) University's Mary Finnegan was second and Mount Holyoke's Sarah Etzel took third.
Introductory Level
- Dunne followed up her national championship on Individual Day with a fourth-place finish Sunday (68.28%).
- Otterbein's Montana McKnight won the level with a 70.31%.
