Emory & Henry Men's Soccer Picked 12th In ODAC Coaches' Poll

FOREST, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Soccer Team has been picked to finish 12th in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference this season, ODAC officials announced Wednesday. The poll is voted on by the 12 head coaches in the league.

Roanoke College is the league favorite, earning 10 of the 12 first-place votes. Lynchburg College (one first-place vote) is second while Randolph College and Washington and Lee University are third and fourth, respectively. Virginia Wesleyan College is tabbed fifth and received the other top nod.

Emory & Henry returns 10 players from last season's team that finished 2-14-3 with an 0-8-3 mark in league matches. The Wasps also welcome 13 new players to the roster in addition to  Robert Richardson, who took over the position of Head Coach this summer.

Among the returners for E&H is sophomore defender Tory Schneider (Williamsburg, Va.), who led the squad with three goals and assist a year ago. He converted both of his penalty kick attempts. Also back are senior Zach James (Stephens City, Va.) and junior Jared Eiriksson (Blackstone, Va.). The pair will be counted on to control the center of the park for the Wasps.

E&H will open the 2013 season on the road as they play in Birmingham-Southern College's Jim 'n Nick's/PUMA Labor Day Classic on Friday and Sunday. The Wasps will face the host Lynx of Rhodes College on Friday afternoon at 5:00 Central Time (6:00 p.m. Eastern). The second match of the weekend will come against the host Panthers of BSC on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Central Time (2:30 Eastern).

Emory & Henry will have its first home match on Sunday, September 15 as Piedmont College will visit Fred Selfe Stadium for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff. The first ODAC contest on the slate for the Wasps will be a trip to Virginia Beach to take on Virginia Wesleyan College on Saturday, September 21 at 3:00 p.m.
