WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Track & Field Team posted a ninth-place finish at the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships. The Wasps sent 13 athletes to the meet where they broke four school records and earned their first podium finish.

Saturday Track
5,000 Meters – Fifth-year Lucas Biggerstaff (Knoxville, Tenn.) was 29th, clocking a time of 18:35.31.
400 Meters – Freshman Zedrick Yeboah (Fredericksburg, Va.) set a new school record as he finished 20th in the preliminaries at :52.07. Freshman T.J. Pecina (Saltville, Va.) was 31st (:55.36) while sophomore Hayden Oglesby (Virginia Beach, Va.) was 32nd (:55.98).
800 Meters – Freshman Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) led E&H as he finished 17th in the prelims at 2:01.42. He was joined by freshman Logan Choplin (Manassas, Va.) at 2:03.17 (22nd), sophomore Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) at 2:03.57 (23rd) and freshman Cody Pecina (Saltville, Va.) at 2:04.36 (24th).
200 Meters – Yeboah was 31st in the preliminaries, stopping the watches at :23.73.
Distance Medley Relay – The relay of Tindall, Yeboah, Wilson and freshman Miles Baldwin (Willis, Va.) crushed the previous E&H best by more than 35 seconds as they ran an 11:02.21 to finish seventh.
Saturday Field
Weight Throw – Sophomore Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.) gave the Wasps their first-ever podium finish, placing third with a school-record mark of 16.94 meters. Sophomore Zavery Wallace (Buena Vista, Va.) was 11th in the event at 14.70 meters.
Long Jump – Senior Colby Martin (Fork Union, Va.) was 24th with a mark of 5.93 meters as sophomore Zadok Laryea (Ruther Glen, Va.) jumped 5.42 meters to finish 28th.
Sunday Track
4x400 Meter Relay – Yeboah, Oglesby, Cody Pecina and T.J., Pecina posted a 3:34.78, finishing 10th.
Sunday Field
Shot Put – Wallace had a 13.81-meter throw to place seventh while Lee was ninth at 13.17 meters.
Triple Jump – Martin broke his own school record with a leap of 12.65 meters to finish 14th as Laryea was 17th (12.21m).
