Emory & Henry Men’s Track & Field Finishes 13th At SAC Championships Thursday

HICKORY, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Track & Field Teams completed the South Atlantic Conference Championships on Thursday. The women's team finished 12th while the men's squad was 13th. The women's team broke three school record while the men added another new program mark to the mix.

The Men
- 4x400 Meter Relay –
Freshman Gavin Kegler (Woodbridge, Va.), junior Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.), freshman Hillis Roberson, IV (Rosenburg, Texas) and freshman Heath Bowker (Salem, Va.) finished seventh with a school-record time of 3:18.02.
- Shot Put – Junior Zadok Laryea (Ruther Glen, Va.) was 18th with a throw of 12.35 meters.
- Triple Jump – Freshman Drew Craft (Covington, Va.) placed 14th, leaping 12.90 meters.
- High Jump – Freshman Joseph Ihlenburg (Roanoke, Va.) jumped 1.71 meters to take 21st.

The Women
- 5,000 Meters -
Sophomore Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) was 17th with an 18:50.40, breaking her own record by more than six seconds.
- 400 Meter Hurdles Finals – Sophomore Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) took fifth place in 1:05.91, breaking the E&H record for the second time in the meet.
- 4x400 Meter Relay – Junior Michelle Diaz (Woodbridge, Va.), Ricketts, freshman McKenzie Tate (Wytheville, Va.) and freshman Maya Turner (Midland, Va.) demolished the previous program best with a time of 4:07.14 to place eighth.
- Discus – Sophomore Taylorann Cash (Buena Vista, Va.) was 18th with a throw of 28.36 meters. Junior Avery Word (Fincastle, Va.) and sophomore Catie Leonard (Gray, Tenn.) were 22nd and 29th, respectively.
- High Jump – Sophomore Alyssa Chappell (Church Hill, Tenn.) tied for 12th a 1.45 meters.
- Shot Put – Cash was 24th, marking a 9.30 meters.
- Triple Jump – Sophomore Scarlett Eversley (Dumfries, Va.) leapt 9.69 meters to place 19th.
