Emory & Henry Cross Country Teams Take Third At EMU Heritage Invitational Friday

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Cross Country teams took to the trail for the first time since November of 2019 Friday evening, competing at the EMU Heritage Invitational. Both squads took third place out of a four-team field.

The Men – 5K (3.1 miles)
- Senior Conor White (Warrenton, Va.) led the Wasps with a third-place finish, covering the 5-kilometer course in 16:43 while freshman Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) earned a top-10 as he went 17:10 to finish eighth.
- Freshman Kobus Wilkinson (Hickory, N.C.) was 14th overall, running an 18:16 while freshman Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) squeaked inside the top 20 at 19th (18:38).
- Senior Lucas Biggerstaff (Knoxville, Tenn.) rounded out the top five for E&H with a time of 19:28 to take 23rd.
- Southern Virginia University's Dylan May led the Knights to the team championship as he won the race in 16:02.

The Women – 5K (3.1 miles)
- Freshman Arriona Holiz (Portsmouth, Va.) and sophomore Annalyse McHone (Shawsville, Va.) went 1-2 for the Wasps, finishing 11th (22:11) and 12th (22:14), respectively.
- Sophomore Madeline Bishop (Collinsville, Va.) posted a time of 23:10 to finish 17th while freshman Laney Stogdale (New Hope, Va.) was 19th in 23:24.
- Freshman Jade Streeby (Speedwell, Va.) rounded out the Wasps' scoring five with her run of 25:40 to take 25th.
- SVU's Bayleigh Redd led the way, stopping the watches in 20:03 as the Knights placed six runners in the top eight to take the team title.
