Emory & Henry Cross Country Closes The Year At The Roanoke Invitational Friday

SALEM, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Cross Country Teams completed it slate of meets for the 2021 season on Friday as it raced in the Roanoke XC Invitational. The men's team was seventh out of 10 teams while the women took 8th out of 12 squads.

The Women – 6K (3.73 miles)
- Freshman Arriona Holiz (Portsmouth, Va.) finished 23rd, running a 25:27 as sophomore Annalyse McHone (Shawsville, Va.) was 28th with a time of 25:48.
- Sophomore Madeline Bishop (Collinsville, Va.) was 36th in the event at 26:11 while freshman Jade Streeby (Speedwell, Va.) went a 27:34 to sit in the top 50 at 49th.
- Freshmen Morgan Lietz (Moneta, Va.) and Laney Stogdale (New Hope, Va.) finished 54th (28:33) and 55th (28:43), respectively, to close out the team.
- Southern Virginia University's Bayleigh Redd was the medalist, winning in a time of 22:48. The Knights claimed the team title, with the top three runners and all five of their scorers in the top eight.

The Men – 8K (4.97 miles)
- Freshman Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) turned in a 28:52 to take 17th overall while freshman Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) was 38th, stopping the watches in 30:47.
- Freshman Kobus Wilkinson (Hickory, N.C.) went a 32:03 to grab 49th with senior Lucas Biggerstaff (Knoxville, Tenn.) taking 58th in 33:05.
- Junior James Guthrie (Dublin, Va.) notched a 64th-place finish at 34:07 as sophomore Diego Zamarripa (El Paso, Texas) was 80th (36:49).
- SVU's Dylan May picked up the win, covering the course in 26:27 as the Knights completed the day with the team championship.
