Emory & Henry Men’s & Women’s Track & Field Open The Indoor Season At Bast-Cregger Invitational Saturday

SALEM, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Track & Field Teams got the 2019-20 season started on Saturday at Roanoke College's Bast-Cregger Invitational. The Wasps saw seven school records fall on the day, six of which came on the men's side of competition.

Top Men's Performances
- Senior Justin Fannon (Abingdon, Va.) won the shot put with a mark of 14.38 meters and was fifth in the weight throw at 12.77 meters. Senior Trel Phillips (Ooltewah, Tenn.) was third in the shot (13.77 m) while sophomore Edward Rajner (Bainbridge, N.Y.) took fourth in the weight throw (13.15 m) and ninth in the shot put (12.55 m).
- Junior Conor White (Warrenton, Va.) set a new E&H record in the mile run at 4:44.38, finishing fifth while junior Markell Moss (Wytheville, Va.) claimed a pair of records in the 60-meter hurdles (:09.27) and the long jump (5.79 m).
- Freshman Colby Martin (Fork Union, Va.) had two records of his own, setting new marks in the 200 meters at :24.41 and crossing the line with a new Wasp best :58.83 in the 400 meters.
- Junior Jackson Kaze (Midlothain, Va.) went a 9:52.26 for a new E&H record in the 3,000 meters.

Women's Top Performances
- Sophomore Lorin Zehr (Holly Pond, Ala.) broke her own record in the weight throw with a mark of 9.44 meters.
- Junior Alette McGuire (Chesapeake, Va.) took fourth in the mile, stopping the watches in 6:14.63.

- Emory & Henry will be back in action following the Christmas Holiday at the JDL January College Kick-off hosted by JDL FastTrack in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Sunday, January 19.
