Emory & Henry Track & Field Continues Action At Bast-Cregger Invitational Over The Weekend

SALEM, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Indoor Track & Field Teams competed at the Bast-Cregger Invitational hosted by Roanoke College on Friday and Saturday. The women's team set a new program record while the men's team also set a new program best.

Top Men's Performances
- Sophomore Zavery Wallace (Buena Vista, Va.) earned a win in the shot put with a distance of 14.26 meters and finished second in the weight throw, breaking his own school record with a 15.91 meter toss.  Fellow sophomore Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.) had two top-six finishes of his own, finishing sixth in the shot put (13.41m) and third in the weight throw with a distance of 15.04 meters.
- Sophomore Zedrick Yeboah (Fredericksburg, Va.) was fifth in the 300 meters with a time of :36.68 while freshman Isaac Thompson (Galax, Va.) finished in eighth with a :37.81.
- Freshman Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) placed third in the 3,000 meters, posting a time of 9:39.07 then followed that performance up with a fourth place in the mile run. Freshman Tommy Henzey, IV (Salem, Va.) finished sixth in the 3000 meters while fifth-year Lucas Biggerstaff (Knoxville, Tenn.) took home an eighth place finish.
- Freshman Willie Burns, Jr. (Woodbridge, Va.) earned two top-ten finishes with a fourth place finish in the 600 meters, posting a time of 1:26.76. Burns, Jr. then finished third in the 1,000 meters with a 2:03.86. Fellow freshmen Cody Pecina (Saltville, Va.) and T.J. Pecina (Saltville, Va.) took sixth place and eighth place, respectively, in the 600 meters.

Women's Top Performances
- Freshman Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) finished fifth in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:20.40, while classmate Sydney Bonney (Bristol, Va.) took home 10th place finish with a time of 4:00.54. Eller also earned an eight place finish in the 600 meters, posting a 1:48.81.
- Junior Annalyse McHone (Shawsville, Va.) finished in tenth in the mile run with a 6:08.63 and freshman Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) followed in 11th, stopping the clock at 6:22.48.
- Freshman Scarlett Eversley (Dumfries, Va.) broke her own program record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of :9.78 and a sixth-place finish. Eversley also picked up a ninth-place finish in the 300 meters with a :47.87.
- In the throws, freshman Taylorann Cash (Buena Vista, Va.) led the Wasps in the shot put with a distance of 9.51 meters and a 12th-place finish. Sophomore Avery Word (Fincastle, Va.) was the top E&H finisher in the weight throw, as she posted a distance of 10.77 meters to earn ninth place.
