Emory & Henry Women’s Track & Field Competes At SAC Indoor Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Track & Field Team closed out the 2022-23 indoor season at the South Atlantic Conference Championships on Saturday and Sunday. The Wasps, who broke two school records and tied a third over the course of the meet, were represented by 15 athletes.

Saturday Track
1 Mile
– Junior Annalyse McHone (Shawsville, Va.) was 19th in the preliminaries with a time of 6:03.72.

400 Meters – Freshman Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) went a 1:05.77 in the prelims to finish 29th in the event.

800 Meters – Freshman Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) set a new program record with her time of 2:29.21 in the prelims, as she finished 18th overall.

60 Meter Hurdles – Freshman Scarlett Eversley (Dumfries, Va.) tied her school record of :09.71 to place 16th in the prelims.

200 Meters – Sophomore Michelle Diaz (Woodbridge, Va.) was 32nd overall in a time of :34.50.

Distance Medley Relay – The team of junior Madeline Bishop (Collinsville, Va.), sophomore Chloe Jones (Harrison, Tenn.), sophomore Kinna Magette (Courtland, Va.) and McHone finished 10th, stopping the watches in 14:59.55.

Saturday Field
Weight Throw – Freshman Madison Osborne (Glade Spring, Va.) led the Wasps with a 21st-place finish and a mark of 11.35 meters. She was joined in the event by sophomore Avery Word (Fincastle, Va.) (10.59m; 22nd), freshman Taylorann Cash (Buena Vista, Va.) (9.56m; 24th), freshman Hope Shockley (Abingdon, Va.) (9.19m; 25th) and junior Michaela Fiscus (Rural Retreat, Va.) (7.89m; 26th). Freshman Catie Leonard (Gray, Tenn.) also competed.

Sunday Track
3,000 Meters – Freshman Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) ran an 11:57.57 to finish 24th.

4x400 Meter Relay – Jones, Ricketts, Eversley and Eller posted a school-record time of 4:30.15 to finish 10th.

Sunday Field
Shot Put – Cash was 23rd at 9.25 meters while Osborne took 24th at 9.01 meters. Leonard recorded a mark of 8.68 meters (25th) with Word taking 26th at 8.64 meters.
