Emory & Henry Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Finishes 12th At SAC Championships Thursday

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Track & Field Team wrapped up competition at the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships on Thursday with a 12th-place finish. The Wasps saw their first-ever South Atlantic Conference finalist take seventh place to highlight the day as two school records fell in the process.

Thursday's Action
- Event 18 – 400-Meter Hurdles –
Freshman Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) became E&H's first scoring women's track & field athlete in the SAC era as she finished seventh with a time of 1:07.54.
- Event 24 – 4 X 400-Meter Relay – The team of sophomore Michelle Diaz (Woodbridge, Va.), Ricketts, freshman Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) and freshman Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) broke the program record by more than nine seconds with a time of 4:27.54 to finish in 11th.
- Event 34 – Shot Put – Freshman Taylorann Cash (Buena Vista, Va.) was 15th with a throw of 10.22 meters, just .01 off the school record. Freshman Madison Osborne (Glade Spring, Va.) finished 21nd with her mark of 9.24 meters and sophomore Avery Word (Fincastle, Va.) was 25th with an 8.72 meters recorded distance. Freshman Catie Leonard (Gray, Tenn.) placed 27th at 8.04 meters.
- Event 36 – Discus Throw – Osborne finished in 22nd with her throw of 26.67 meters while Leonard was hot on her heels in 23rd with a distance of 26.59. Word followed up in 24th with a toss of 26.40 meters and Cash rounded out the Wasps' effort with a 24.73-meter throw to place her in 26th.
