Emory & Henry Track & Field Sees Records Fall At Liberty Open Saturday

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Indoor Track & Field Teams kept rolling on Saturday at the Liberty Open. The men's team broke five program records while the women's squad eclipsed three school marks.

Top Men's Performances
- Freshman Will Humphrey, II (Charlotte, N.C.) won the preliminaries of the 60 meters with a time of 6.95 seconds to qualify for the semifinals, taking 18th place as he ran a 6.94 seconds. Freshman Jackson Swanson (Salem, Va.) was 18th in the prelims at :07.15.
- Freshman Heath Bowker (Salem, Va.) placed eighth in the 800 meters, clocking a school record time of 1:56.28. Freshman Gavin Kegler (Woodbridge, Va.) and sophomore Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) were 14th (1:58.43) and 18th (1:59.51), respectively.
- In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Justin Williams (Suffolk, Va.) placed 10th in record-breaking fashion at 9.01 seconds as freshman Joshua Black (Woodbridge, Va.) was 16th in 9.32 seconds.
- Freshman Barlowe Branch, III (Petersburg, Va.) ran a :22.91 in the 200 meters for a new school record taking 34th while Tindall was also 34th in the mile with a program-best time of 4:33.61.
- Williams grabbed a 17th-place finish in the triple jump, marking a 12.77 meters.
- The Wasps 4x400 meter relay of Kegler, junior Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.), freshman Hillis Roberson, IV (Rosenburg, Texas) and Heath Bowker was third, crushing the previous record by more than eight seconds at 3:24.56.

Women's Top Performances
- Sophomore Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) set the facility record in the 400-meter hurdles running a 1:08.23. She was also a member of the 4x400 meter relay along with freshman McKenzie Tate (Wytheville, Va.), sophomore Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) and freshman Kennedy Harris (Mineral, Va.) which finished 10th and set a new school record by more than 7.5 seconds at 4:17.03.
- In the 5,000 meters, sophomore Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) was ninth with a school-record run of 20:23.61 while freshmen Maddy Fiscus (Rural Retreat, Va.) and Madison Carlisle (Stafford, Va.) were 13th (20:51.12) and 16th (21:37.93), respectively.
- Eller posted an individual record of her own, going a 2:22.87 in the 800 meters as sophomore Scarlett Eversley (Dumfries, Va.) was ninth in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.90 seconds.
- Sophomore Taylorann Cash (Buena Vista, Va.) placed sixth in the shot put at 10.16 meters.
