Andreia Langley To Compete In The NCWWC National Championships This Weekend

ADRIAN, Mich. –  In just its first season of competition, the Emory & Henry College Women's Wrestling Team has seen one of its athletes qualify for nationals. Junior Andreia Langley (Chilhowie, Va.) will represent the Wasps at the 191-pound weight class this weekend at the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships, hosted by Adrian College.

Langley earned her spot at the national championship tournament by virtue of her third-place finish at the NCWWC Southeast Region Championships on Saturday, February 19.

A qualifying spot for the NCWWC National Championships was given to up to 20 wrestlers in each weight class with no more than five competitors from each of the four regions. This year, the 191-pound class is made up of 19 wrestlers.

Langley will open the competition against Jaycee Foeller of McKendree University, who was ranked second in the country as of the most recent NCWA rankings. The tournament will be contested as a double-elimination event with wrestlers reaching the consolation semifinals guaranteed an extra match to determine the top eight.

On the year, Langley has posted a 17-14 record. In addition to her third-place finish at the NCWWC Southeast Region, she was the runner-up at the inaugural Wasp Women's Open, third at the NUWAY College Open and fifth at both the Adrian Open and the Robert Horton Memorial.
