Emory & Henry Cross Country Competes At The Royals Cross Country Challenge

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Cross Country Teams kept their seasons rolling on Friday afternoon as they competed at the Royals Cross Country Challenge, hosted by Queens University of Charlotte. The women's team finished 13th out of 24 competing teams while the men were 14th out of 25 squads.

The Women – 5K (3.11 miles)
- Freshman Arriona Holiz (Portsmouth, Va.) was 32nd overall with a time of 20:47 while sophomore Annalyse McHone (Shawsville, Va.) took 60th in 21:24.
- Sophomore Madeline Bishop (Collinsville, Va.) posted an 86th-place finish (22:13) as freshman Jade Streeby (Speedwell, Va.) was 122nd in 23:17. Freshman Morgan Lietz (Moneta, Va.) rounded out the Wasps' five as she ran a 24:45, finishing 148th.
- Cherise Carreira of Queens (N.C.) won the event running a 17:19, topping the field by 45 seconds while Davis & Elkins College took the team title, putting their scoring five in the top 16.

The Men – 8K (4.97 miles)
- Freshman Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) posted a 26:05 which was good for a 12th-place finish as freshman Kobus Wilkinson (Hickory, N.C.) was 67th in 28:03.
- Freshman Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) stopped the watches in 28:39 to take 84th as senior Lucas Biggerstaff (Knoxville, Tenn.) was 114th in 30:19. Junior James Guthrie (Dublin, Va.) rounded out the team for E&H at 32:50 (149th).
- University of Rio Grande's Cody Booth was the medalist, finishing in 24:41, 47 seconds ahead of second place. Davis & Elkins made it a team sweep, putting three runners in the top five and their five scorers in the top 14.
