Emory & Henry Men's Track & Field Opens The SAC Indoor Championships Saturday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Track & Field Teams started action in the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday. The women currently sit in ninth place after breaking four school records. The men's squad eclipsed five program marks on the day.

The Men
- 60 Meter Preliminaries – Freshman Will Humphrey, II (Charlotte, N.C.) broke his own record with a time of 6.84 seconds, placing sixth and qualifying for finals. Freshman Jackson Swanson (Salem, Va.) was 26th overall.
- 60-Meter Hurdles Preliminaries – Freshman Justin Williams (Suffolk, Va.) took 16th at 8.86 seconds while freshmen Nour Nabi (Lake Ridge, Va.) was 16th, freshman Joshua Black (Woodbridge, Va.) was 17th and freshman Joseph Ihlenburg (Roanoke, Va.) was 20th.
- 200 Meter Preliminaries – Freshman Barlowe Branch, III (Petersburg, Va.) placed 18th in 23.07 seconds while junior Willie Williams (Manassas, Va.) was 25th.
- 800 Meter Preliminaries – Freshman Heath Bowker (Salem, Va.) and junior Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) qualified for the finals in second and third, respectively as Bowker broke his own school record with a time of 1:55.93. Wilson crossed the line in 1:56.92. Freshman Caeden Bowker (Salem, Va.) was 12th, sophomore Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) was 16th, freshman Hillis Roberson, IV (Roseburg, Texas) was 17th and freshman Gavin Kegler (Woodbridge, Va.) was 19th.
- Mile Preliminaries – Sophomore Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) broke his own record with a time of 20:26.65, finishing 19th. Freshman Davis Norman (Salem, Va.) was 21st.
- 5,000 Meters – Freshman Aidan Trautman (Centreville, Va.) ran a 16:24.42 to finish 26th.
- Long Jump – Branch broke the school record with a leap of 6.40 meters to take 14th place while freshman Drew Craft (Covington, Va.) placed 16th.
-  Weight Throw – Sophomore Tyrique Taylor (Christiansburg, Va.) was 13th with a mark of 13.51 meters.
- Distance Medley Relay – The team of Tindall, Roberson, Kegler and Klapak placed ninth at 10:42.42, going nearly 10 seconds faster than the previous school record.

The Women
- 60-Meter Hurdles Preliminaries – Sophomore Scarlett Eversley (Dumfries, Va.) was 10th, breaking her own record with a time of 9.53 seconds.
- 200 Meter Preliminaries – Junior Michelle Diaz (Woodbridge, Va.) placed 25th, running a school-record :27.80.
- 400 Meter Preliminaries – Freshman McKenzie Tate (Wytheville, Va.) was 18th, breaking her own record with a time of 1:02.47. Sophomore Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) was 21st as freshman Maya Turner (Midland, Va.) was 25th.
- 800 Meter Preliminaries – Sophomore Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) broke her own school record with a 2:21.97 to take 10th. Freshman Kennedy Harris (Mineral, Va.) was 17th while freshman Sonya Wagner (Afton, Va.) was 19th.
- 5,000 Meters – Sophomore Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) placed 21st, running a 20:26.65. Freshman Maddy Fiscus (Rural Retreat, Va.) took 23rd.
- Weight Throw – Sophomore Catie Leonard (Gray, Tenn.) finished 24th with a throw of 10.49 meters. Junior Avery Word (Fincastle, Va.) and sophomore Hope Shockley (Abingdon, Va.) were 26th and 27th, respectively.
- Distance Medley Relay – Harris, Tate, Wagner and Eller ran a 13:01.61 to place sixth.
