Emory & Henry Cross Country Teams Race At Hornet Harrier Invitational Saturday

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Cross Country continued their 2021 season on Saturday morning at the Hornet Harrier Invitational, hosted by Shenandoah University. The men's team took seventh in the 6K race while the women's team was unable to post a team score.

The Men – 6K (3.73 miles)
- Senior Conor White (Warrenton, Va.) was the runner-up in the event running a 19:15, just 10 seconds off the victory while freshman Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) snagged a top 15 at 20:10.
- Freshman Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) was 41st with a time of 22:02 while freshman Kobus Wilkinson (Hickory, N.C.) came in 46th, stopping the watches in 22:34.
- Senior Lucas Biggerstaff (Knoxville, Tenn.) completed E&H's top five, taking 55th in 23:54 as junior James Guthrie (Dublin, Va.) and sophomore Diego Zamarripa (El Paso, Texas) covered the course in 25:14 and 25:53, respectively.
- John O'Rourke of The Catholic University of America was the medalist turning in a time of 19:05 while University of Mary Washington won the team title, placing all five of their scoring runners in the top 20 to edge Catholic by one point.

The Women – 5K (3.11 miles)
- Sophomore Annalyse McHone (Shawsville, Va.) was 15th  to lead E&H with a time of 21:35.
- Freshman Laney Stogdale (New Hope, Va.) posted a 24:49 to take 35th while freshman Jade Streeby (Speedwell, Va.) was 36th in 24:54.
- Freshman Morgan Lietz (Moneta, Va.) finished 40th overall, running a 26:17.
 - Catholic completed the sweep of medalist honors as Paige Wilderotter turned in an 18:55 to win the event by 50 seconds. Mary Washington put its five scorers inside the top eight to claim the team title over Catholic.
