Emory & Henry Women's Track & Field Takes Seventh At Kaye & J.J. Smith Invitational Sunday

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Indoor Track & Field Teams competed at the Kaye & J.J. Smith Invitational hosted by Shenandoah University on Sunday. The men's team broke two program records en route to a sixth-place finish while the women's team also set two program bests and took home seventh.

Top Men's Performances
- Sophomore Zavery Wallace (Buena Vista, Va.) earned fifth place in the shot put with a distance of 13.55 meters and finished eighth in the weight throw with a 13.99-meter toss.  Fellow sophomore Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.) finished sixth in the weight throw (14.46 m) and eighth in the shot put (12.94 m).
- Senior Colby Martin (Fork Union, Va.) took home a third-place finish and broke the program record in the long jump with a distance of 6.02 meters. Martin's leap of 12.54 meters in the triple jump was good enough for fourth and another program record.
- The 4 X 800 meter relay team of sophomore Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) and freshmen Logan Choplin (Manassas, Va.), T.J. Pecina (Saltville, Va.) and Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) posted a time of 8:36.68 and a third-place finish. Tindall finished 11th in the 3000 meters with a 9:36.94.
- Sophomore Zedrick Yeboah (Fredericksburg, Va.) picked up a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters, stopping the clock at 52.74. Yeboah also finished sixth in the 200 meters, posting a time of 23.67.

Women's Top Performances
- Freshman Injoi Bristol (Kingsport, Tenn.) finished seventh in the 60 meters and set a new program best with her time of 8.37.
- Freshman Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) finished fourth in the 400 meters with her 1:06.59 while sophomore Michelle Diaz (Woodbridge, Va.) placed sixth (1:09.66). Diaz also finished 13th in the 200 meters with a time of 29.25.
- Freshman Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) picked up a second-place finish in the 800 meters and broke her own program record with her time of 2:34.02.
- In the throws, freshman Taylorann Cash (Buena Vista, Va.) finished ninth in the shot put with a distance of 9.85 meters and tenth in the weight throw (11.11m). Sophomore Avery Word (Fincastle, Va.) picked up a ninth-place finish in the weight throw (11.52m) and her distance of 8.32 meters was good enough for 16th in the shot put.
