Emory & Henry Women’s Track & Field Breaks Four Records At Liberty Open Saturday

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Indoor Track & Field Teams competed at the Liberty Open hosted by Liberty University on Saturday. The women's squad smashed four program records during competition.

Top Men's Performances
- Sophomore Zavery Wallace (Buena Vista, Va.) earned a sixth-place finish in the shot put with his toss of 14.00 meters and followed it up with another sixth place in the weight throw (15.52m). Fellow sophomore Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.), finished eighth in the shot put (13.15m) and eighth in the weight throw with a distance of 15.14 meters.
- Sophomore Zedrick Yeboah (Fredericksburg, Va.) picked up a 21st place finish in the 400 meters with his time of :52.41. Yeboah also finished 30th in the 200 meters with a :23.27. 
- Sophomore Bryce Cobler (Meadowview, Va.) finished 30th in the 60 meter dash with his :7.41.

Women's Top Performances
- Freshman Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) once again broke the program record in the 400 meters with a 1:04.03, placing 19th. Sophomore Michelle Diaz (Woodbridge, Va.) took 21st with her 1:06.06. Diaz also broke her own program record in the 200 meters, posting a :28.61.
- Freshman Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) topped the program record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:33.81 and a 29th place finish.
- Freshman Alyssa Chappell (Church Hill, Tenn.) broke her own record in the long jump with a distance of 4.62 meters, good enough for 25th.
- Sophomore Avery Word (Fincastle, Va.) took 23rd in the weight throw with her distance of 10.29 meters with freshman Taylorann Cash (Buena Vista, Va.) finishing right behind her in 24th with a 10.18 meter throw. Cash placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 9.52 meters, while freshman Madison Osborne (Glade Spring, Va.) was ninth with her 9.21 meter distance and Word was 11th with a posted 9.18 meters.
