Emory & Henry Track & Field Competes At DMR Invitational Over The Weekend

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Indoor Track & Field Teams competed at the DMR Invitational hosted by JDL Fast Track on Friday and Saturday. The men's squad saw a program record fall during competition.

Top Men's Performances
 - Sophomore Zavery Wallace (Buena Vista, Va.) earned an eighth-place finish in the shot put with his toss of 13.34 meters and followed it up with a sixth place in the weight throw (15.62m). Fellow sophomore Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.), finished ninth in the shot put (12.88m) and seventh in the weight throw with a distance of 15.58 meters.
- Sophomore Zedrick Yeboah (Fredericksburg, Va.) picked up a third-place finish in the 400 meters, stopping the clock at :52.40. Yeboah also finished ninth in the 200 meters with a :23.26 while sophomore Willie Williams (Manassas, Va.) was 19th in the 200 with his time of :24.35.
- Senior Colby Martin (Fork Union, Va.) set another program best in the long jump, posting a leap of 6.12 meters. Martin also took third in the triple jump with a distance of 11.98 meters. Teammate sophomore Zadok Laryea (Ruther Glen, Va.) finished hot on Martin's heels in the triple jump with an 11.97 meter jump and a fourth-place finish.

Women's Top Performances
 - Freshman Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) finished ninth in the 400 meters with a 1:05.16. Sophomore Michelle Diaz (Woodbridge, Va.) took 12th with her 1:08.85.
- Freshman Madison Osborne (Glade Spring, Va.) picked up a ninth-place finish in the shot put as she launched a throw of 9.58 meters and sophomore Avery Word (Fincastle, Va.) was 16th with a distance of 8.90 meters. Word posted an 11.27 meter distance in the weight throw, good enough for ninth. Freshman Hope Shockley (Abingdon, Va.) finished in 15th with her throw of 9.01 meters.

 - Emory & Henry returns to Winston-Salem for its debut at the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 25-26 at the JDL Fast Track.
