Emory & Henry Women’s Track & Field Finishes Fifth At Battleground Relays Saturday

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Outdoor Track & Field Teams competed at the Battleground Relays hosted by the University of Mary Washington on Saturday. The men's team finished third out of ten competing teams while the women's squad was fifth of 11 teams. The men's program also set two records while the women set six program bests.

Top Men's Performances
- Sophomore Zedrick Yeboah (Fredericksburg, Va.) broke his own record in the 400 meters with a time of 50.78 good enough for third place. Freshmen T.J. Pecina (Saltville, Va.) and Cody Pecina (Saltville, Va.) finished 10th and 12th with times of 53.01 and 53.48 respectively.
- Freshman Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) picked up a fourth-place finish in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:20.28 and freshman Miles Baldwin (Willis, Va.) finished hot on his heels in fifth with a 4:20.93.
- Baldwin finished third in the 3,000 meters with his time of 9:54.49.
- Freshman Tommy Henzey, IV (Salem, Va.) was victorious in the 5,000 meters with his 18:02.07 and fifth-year Lucas Biggerstaff (Knoxville, Tenn.) finished in second with a time of 18:42.59.
- Tindall established a new program standard in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with his 10:16.95 and second-place finish. Sophomore Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) finished in third with a 10:51.49.
- Sophomore Zadok Laryea (Ruther Glen, Va.) finished sixth in the triple jump with a posted distance of 12.44 meters.
- Sophomore Zavery Wallace (Buena Vista, Va.) finished first in the shot put with a throw of 14.08 meters and Tyrique Taylor (Christiansburg, Va.) was right behind him in second place with his toss of 13.46 meters.
- Taylor was the top performer in the discus as his throw of 39.71 meters was good enough to take the title.
- Wallace also took second in the hammer throw as he launched a throw of 49.00 meters.

Women's Top Performances
- Sophomore Michelle Diaz (Woodbridge, Va.) finished sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.61. Diaz also finished tenth in the 400 meters, posting a time of 1:07.02.
- Freshman Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) set a new program best in the 800 meters with her time of 2:37.57 which placed her in third. Eller also smashed the previous record in the 1,500 meters with a 5:08.06, good enough for fourth place.
- Freshman Scarlett Eversley (Dumfries, Va.) finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with her 16.48 while freshman Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) finished in sixth with a 17.07.
- Ricketts set a new program standard in the 400-meter hurdles, stopping the clock at 1:09.40 and taking home second. Eversley finished fourth with her 1:16.56.
- Freshman Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) established a new program best in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as she finished in 13:22.11, good enough for second place.
- The 4x100 meter relay team of Eversley, Ricketts, sophomore Chloe Jones (Harrison, Tenn.) and freshman Kylee Turman (Dublin, Va.) also established a program record with a time of 53.33.
- Freshman Taylorann Cash (Buena Vista, Va.) finished eighth in the shot put with a throw of 9.85 meters and 11th in the hammer throw with a distance of 33.12 meters.
- Freshman Madison Osborne (Glade Spring, Va.) picked up a ninth in the shot put with her 9.80-meter throw and 11th in the discus with a toss of 23.79 meters.
- Junior Michaela Fiscus (Rural Retreat, Va.) smashed her own program record in the javelin as she launched a throw of 28.14 meters to take home second place.
