Emory & Henry Men’s Track & Field Wins Concord Invitational Friday

ATHENS, W.Va./PRINCETON, W.Va. – The Emory & Henry College Outdoor Track & Field Teams kept the season going on Friday at the Concord Invitational. The men's team finished first out of seven programs with six event wins and two school records while the women were fourth with five top-three finishes and a new program best mark.

Top Men's Performances
- Sophomore Tyrique Taylor (Christiansburg, Va.) earned a pair of victories throwing the discus 43.67 meters and the shot put 14.73 meters.
- Junior Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) set a new record in the 10,000 meters with his time of 33:05.08 while freshman Caeden Bowker (Salem, Va.) won the 1,500 meters in 4:23.76.
- The 400 meters saw freshman Heath Bowker (Salem, Va.) tally a :52.21 to take first place as freshman Justin Williams (Suffolk, Va.) went a :17.26 in the 110-meter hurdles to earn a victory.
- In the javelin, junior Colby Davenport (Loves Mill, Va.) was the runner-up with a school-record throw of 39.54 meters.

Women's Top Performances
- Sophomore Alyssa Chappell (Church Hill, Tenn.) gave the Wasps a win in the high jump at 1.37 meters.
- Sophomore Taylorann Cash (Buena Vista, Va.) placed third in both the discus (31.72m) and the shot put (9.10m). Her performance in the discus was good for a new E&H best.
- Sophomore Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) was the runner-up in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:17.49 while freshman Kennedy Harris (Mineral, Va.) was third.
- Sophomore Scarlett Eversley (Dumfries, Va.) took second in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 16.46 seconds.

- Emory & Henry will be back in action next Saturday at the WildCat Invitational, hosted by Randolph College.
