Emory & Henry Track & Field Excels At Bast-Cregger Invitational As 12 School Records Fall

SALEM, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Indoor Track & Field Teams competed in its second meet of the season over the weekend at the Bast-Cregger Invitational. The Wasps broke 12 school records while winning four events over the two-day meet.

Top Men's Performances
- Freshman Heath Bowker (Salem, Va.) won the 800 meters with a school-record time of 1:58.23 while freshmen Hillis Roberson, IV (Rosenburg, Texas) and Gavin Kegler (Woodbridge, Va.) were fourth and seventh, respectively.
- Freshman Kaleb Elswick (Big Rock, Va.) placed third in the 5,000 meters, running a program-best 15:44.96 as junior Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) and freshman Davis Norman (Salem, Va.) also turned in top-10 finishes at fifth and eighth.
- Junior Zadok Laryea (Ruther Glen, Va.) posted a new E&H mark in the triple jump at 13.30 meters to place fourth while freshman Drew Craft (Covington, Va.) and senior Colby Martin (Fork Union, Va.) were fifth and sixth.
- In the preliminaries of the 60 meters, freshman Jackson Swanson (Salem, Va.) tied his own record with a performance of 7.09 seconds to qualify for the semifinals. In the semis, Swanson rewrote the record at 7.04 seconds to finish 11th overall. Redshirt freshman Barlowe Branch, III (Petersburg, Va.) was seventh in the 300 meters (:37.10).
- Sophomore Miles Baldwin (Willis, Va.) was one of five Wasps to make the top-10 in the mile, running a 4:37.23 to take third. Freshman Caedan Bowker (Salem, Va.) was fourth, sophomore Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) was fifth, junior Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) was eighth and freshman Gage Coleman (Bristol, Va.) was ninth.
- Sophomore Tyrique Taylor (Christiansburg, Va.) was the runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 14.85 meters and had a throw of 12.34 meters in the weight throw to place 10th. Laryea was eighth in the shot put.
- The Wasps also had a record-setting performance in the distance medley relay as Tindall, Heath Bowker, Kegler and Baldwin won the event in 10:55.34. Coleman, Wilson, Roberson and Caedan Bowker were second in the event.

Women's Top Performances
- Sophomore Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) earned a pair of event wins as she posted two new school records. She took the mile in 5:19.60 and the 800 meters with a 2:24.72. Freshmen Jessi Looney (Vansant, Va.) and Kennedy Harris (Mineral, Va.) were second and third in the mile while Harris claimed sixth in the 800.
- In the 5,000 meters, sophomore Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) placed third with a new school record time of 20:31.63. Freshman Maddy Fiscus (Rural Retreat, Va.) was fourth, freshman Madison Carlisle (Stafford, Va.) was seventh and freshman Hannah Rosen (Falls Church, Va.) was 10th.
- Sophomore Scarlett Eversley (Dumfries, Va.) broke a pair of records of her own, finishing sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.14 meters and 10th in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.62 seconds.
- Freshman McKenzie Tate (Wytheville, Va.) went a :28.38 in the 200 meters, breaking the E&H mark for a 15th-place finish. She was also the runner-up in the 300-meters at :44.04 while sophomore Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.), and freshmen Adrianna Hall (Salem, Va.) and Maya Turner (Midland, Va.) also posted top-10 finishes.
- E&H also tallied a relay record as Eller, Harris, Tate and Looney went 12:58.33 in the distance medley relay to finish second.
